This Healthy Sautéed Shrimp and Broccoli with Garlic Sauce is a quick and easy Chinese stir-fry made with juicy shrimp, crisp broccoli, and a flavorful garlic sauce. It's a wholesome, high-protein meal that's perfect for busy weeknights.
6Garlic Cloves, minced (Half for the Sauce, Half for cooking the Shrimp)
3Green Onions (White+Light Green Parts, Sliced)
1/4tspSalt
1/4tspGround Black Pepper
2tbspCornstarch
2tbspLight Soy Sauce
1/2CupFresh Water (125 ml)
1tspSesame Oil
1tbspVegetable Oil
Instructions
In a bowl, mix Shrimp, Salt, and Ground Black Pepper together. Set aside.
Prepare the Garlic Sauce. In another bowl or a measuring cup, mix well half of the Garlic, Green Onions, Soy Sauce, Sesame Oil, Cornstarch, and Water.
In a wok, bring the water to a high boil, add the Broccoli, and boil for 2-3 minutes. Remove Broccoli and set aside.
Clean the wok, add the Vegetable oil, at a medium heat, add the rest of the Garlic, stir for a few seconds, then add the Shrimp, and cook for 3-4 minutes, until the Shrimp turn pink and curve.
Turn the heat to high, add the Broccoli and mix gently with the Shrimp. Then add the Garlic Sauce, coat thoroughly for about 2 minutes. Ready to serve!
Notes
Don't overcook the broccoli or the shrimp. Blanch the broccoli just until it turns bright green and stays crisp, as it will continue cooking with the shrimp. The same goes for the shrimp—cook only until they turn pink and tender to keep them juicy and flavorful.
Use fresh garlic whenever possible. Fresh garlic gives the sauce its rich aroma and delicious flavor, making a big difference compared to garlic powder.
Cook until the sauce lightly coats the shrimp and broccoli. Once most of the liquid has reduced and the glossy garlic sauce clings beautifully to every piece, your dish is ready to serve.
Serve immediately with steamed rice or noodles for a simple, healthy, and satisfying homemade meal.
